Chou Collection Radical: Walk slowly (zhǐ) Kangxi stroke count: 3 Page 244, Entry 17 Compendium of Phonology (Jiyun): Pronounced zhi (rising tone). Etymological Dictionary (Shuowen): Means to reach from behind. It resembles the two shins of a person with someone pushing them from behind. Note that it is different from the character with the same radical (sui). In the latter, the right stroke is long and extends outward, while in this character, the right stroke is short and tucked inward. It is also, in the Compendium of Phonology (Jiyun), an ancient form of the character for end (zhong). Details are provided in the entry for Silk (si) at five strokes.
