According to the Ben Cao (Compendium of Materia Medica), it is also known as fangxiang or zefen. It grows in the river valleys of Hedong. Its primary efficacy is to promote skin growth and moisturize the complexion, and it can be made into a facial ointment. According to the Xunzi, the roots of the lankui plant are zhi. According to the Lisao by Qu Yuan: Draped over the body are the jiangli and the bizhi. It is also a place name. According to the Biography of Xiahou Ying in the Former Han (Qian Han Shu), a battle took place at Lantian and Zhiyang. The commentary states that Zhiyang was later renamed Baling County. Note: In the Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), Zhiyang is written as zhiyang, which has the same pronunciation and meaning.
