Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen): To lift something horizontally or to lift something with both hands in opposition.
Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji): Ji was over eight feet tall, and his strength was sufficient to lift a tripod.
Han Yu, Poem Presented to Zhang Ji: A tripod of a hundred hu with dragon patterns, the strength of the brush can lift it alone.
Also, Collection Rhymes (Jiyun) and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): Pronounced gang. Also means to lift. Same as the character variant (gang). Sometimes written as (kang).
