Pronounced wa. A river name. The Wowa River is located within the territory of Shazhou, Shaanxi Regional Military Commission. Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), Book of Music (Yueshu): Once obtained a divine horse in the Wowa River.
Also, pronounced wa. Same as wa (depression). Fangyan (Dialect): Wa means a pool or stagnant water. From the passes eastward, some call it wa, others call it si. Also means deep or curved. Zhuangzi, Discourse on Making All Things Equal (Qiwulun): Resembling a depression, resembling a stain.
