Xu Collection, Middle Volume, Radical: Mound (fù) Stroke Count: 14 Page 1350, Entry 07 Pronounced hu (fourth tone) in Guangyun, and ha (fourth tone) in Jiyun, Yunhui, and Zhengyun, sounding like "kèn". Explained in Shuowenjiezi as "to obstruct". Explained in Yupian as "boundary, limit, orderly". In the "Book of Changes (Yijing)", the third yao of the Gen hexagram states: "Gen its limit." Note: "Limit" refers to the waist. The third yao is located between the upper and lower trigrams, hence "Gen its limit." In "Strategies of the Warring States (Zhanguo Ce)", Wushan and Qianzhong in the south served as boundaries. In "Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji)", "Records of the Minister of Finance (Pingzhun Shu)": Houses, carriages, and clothing, exceeding the prescribed limits without restraint.
