Jiyun (Collection of Rhymes), Yunhui (Collection of Rhymes): Pronounced jie.
Shuowen (Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters): A ram that has been castrated.
Jijiu Pian Zhu (Commentary on the Urgent Literacy Manual): A ram that has been castrated is called a jie; this is what is being referred to.
Also, Yunhui (Collection of Rhymes): A place name. The Jie Chamber in Wuxiang, Shangdang. During the Jin dynasty, a separate branch of the Xiongnu migrated and settled there, and subsequently became known as the Jie.
Also, Tang Shu (Book of Tang), Account of the Western Regions: Recruited courageous and robust men were called zhe jie. Zhe jie is equivalent to what in China is called a warrior.
