Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen) states: An ancient marquisate of Ji in Donghai County. In the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu), Duke Zhuang, Year 1: "The Qi army relocated Ji, Ping, Zi, and Wu." Also a city in Lu. In the Commentary of Zuo (Zuozhuan), Duke Wen, Year 7: "They fortified Wu." The commentary states: "Wu is a city in Lu. There is Wu City south of Bian County." Also pronounced yú (as in Jiyun). Wuxiang, a county name from the Han dynasty. In the Table of Meritorious Officials section of the Book of Han (Hanshu): "Marquis of Wuxiang, Min."
