According to Jade Articles (Yupian), it means to sew. Sometimes also written in a variant form.
In the Book of Odes (Shijing), it is written: Five lengths of white silk sewn together.
The Commentary (Zhuan) states: This means to sew.
In the Literary Expositor (Erya), it states: This refers to the seams of a lambskin coat.
The Annotation (Zhu) by Sun Yan states: The term implies the border or limit of the pelt; thus, where the lambskin is sewn together, the seam is considered the boundary, and this is called a seam.
