According to Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), it is pronounced yu. According to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), it is pronounced yu. According to Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced yu. According to the Explanations of Graphs and Analysis of Characters (Shuowen), it means to dwell. It is also known as the crow. It is small, gathers in large flocks, and has a white underside. In the Book of Odes (Shijing), it is written: There are those small birds. According to the Dictionary of Characters (Zihui), the word following the bird name is a grammatical particle; later scholars incorrectly treated the two words as a single bird name. According to the Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), it is pronounced yu. The meaning is the same. In the Explanations of Graphs and Analysis of Characters (Shuowen), it is written as a variant form.
