A state. A fief of the descendants of Emperor Yan, of the Jiang clan. The principal consort of Emperor Ku was a woman of the Tai clan, who gave birth to Qi, who became Hou Ji, and was later enfeoffed in Tai. — Book of Odes (Shijing), "Da Ya"

Hou Ji was enfeoffed in 斄. — Commentary: 斄 is pronounced like 邰. The present Wuzhangyuan in Wugong County, Xi'an Prefecture, Shaanxi Province, is that place. Some say there is also a Wuzhangyuan in Mei County, Fengxiang Prefecture, which has Tai Pavilion.
