According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), refers to a type of woolen rug.
The Comprehensive Customs (Fengsu Tong) states that a cushion or mat woven from hair is called a woolen rug.
History of the Southern Dynasties, Biographies of Foreign Peoples (Nan Shi, Yi Mo Zhuan): During the Datong era of the Liang dynasty, the state of Gaochang presented items including grapes, fine horses, and woolen rugs.
Ancient Music Bureau (Gu Yuefu): Guests sit upon felt rugs, surrounded by five types of incense.
Han Yu and Li Zhengfeng, Yancheng Linked Verses (Yancheng Lianju): Spread with woolen rugs on both sides, using the five tripod cauldrons to prepare the peony broth.
