Explanation of Writing (Shuowen): To gather. Derived from Again, with shu providing the phonetic. In Runan, gathering taro is called shu. Xu says: it means to collect. Book of Odes (Shijing), Odes of Bin: In the ninth month, we gather hemp seeds. Commentary: means to gather.
Also, Jade Chapters (Yupian): Father's younger brother. Broad Rhymes (Guangyun): Father's youngest brother. Explaining Names (Shiming): Shu means young. A term of address for the younger one.
