You Collection, Lower Volume Radical: Walk (chuò) Kangxi Strokes: 15 Page 1259, Entry 19 Guangyun: Pronounced lu Jiyun, Yunhui: Pronounced lu Shuowen Jiezi: To walk cautiously. Boya: Many. Also, in Fangyan: To walk upstream. Huainanzi: Spirits Training (Jingshen Xun): To come in a state of chaos, to depart in a state of lu. Commentary: Lu means to act without intent, suddenly coming and going. Also a surname. Fengsu Tong: Lu was a city in the Qin state. Its magistrate was enfeoffed in Lu, and thus adopted it as a clan name. In the History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu), there is the Marquis of Mengxiang, Lu Bing. In the Records of Later Zhao (Houzhao Lu), there is the Gold and Purple Grand Master, Lu Ming. Also, in Jiyun: Equivalent to the character dai. See the note under the character dai later. Textual Research: Fengsu Tong: Lu was a city in the Qin state. Its magistrate was enfeoffed in Lu, and thus adopted it as a clan name. The History of the Former Han mentions Marquis of Mengxiang Lu Pu, and Wang Mang's Minister of War Lu Bing, and in the Records of Later Zhao, Lu Ming. I respectfully note that Lu Bing was incorrectly written as Lu Pu; the Marquis of Mengxiang and the Minister of War were the same person and should not be separated into two. Following the Biography of Zhai Fangjin in the History of the Han (Hanshu), Lu Pu has been corrected to Lu Bing. Regarding Wang Mang's Minister of War Lu Bing and the Records of Later Zhao's Lu Ming, this has been corrected according to the note on the character lu in the Guangyun, referencing the Gold and Purple Grand Master Lu Ming in the Records of Later Zhao.
