Commentary: Lu is the ruchen (a type of bedding grass). It is now called chijiaosa (hawk-foot sedge). Sub-commentary: It is exactly the luru grass. Qu Yuan, Encountering Sorrow (Lisao): Gathered lu and shi plants until the room was full. Xie Tiao's poem: Frost shears the lu of Jiangnan. Also used interchangeably with the character lu (to record). Zhou Documents from the Jizhong Tomb (Jizhong Zhoushu): On the east side below the hall, Guo Shu was in charge of lu (recording) the ritual silks for the Son of Heaven. Commentary: Lu means to record the ritual silks presented by the feudal lords. Also written in the variant form lu (green). Book of Odes (Shijing), Lesser Odes: Gathering the lu all morning. Sub-commentary: Lu is the same as lu.
