Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen): Water that is not flowing smoothly.
Book of Han (Hanshu), Treatise on the Five Elements: Only metal overcomes wood. It also refers to qi that harms others, known as li. Li carries the meaning of descending and being disharmonious. Commentary: Fu Qian says: Li is harm. Ru Chun says: Li is pronounced like the li in fuli.
It also refers to demonic or noxious qi. Book of Han, Biography of Kong Guang: The onset of six types of disaster qi. Commentary: Li is evil qi.
It also refers to a small piece of land in water. Yang Xiong, Hedong Fu: The spirits of the Qin territory are afraid, their souls treading upon the water's edge. Commentary: Li is a shallow bank along a river.
Also, pronounced tian (dipping tone). Chaotic aggression. Zhuangzi, The Great and Most Venerable Master: The qi of yin and yang are in chaos.
