According to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), this is identical to the character li. For details, see the entry for li. It is also identical to the character li (thunderclap). In the Western Metropolis Rhapsody (Xijing Fu) by Zhang Heng, it is written: Thunderous sounds clash and increase in volume. The commentary notes that this refers to a thunderclap. It also appears in the phrase di li. In the Rhapsody on Thinking of the Profound (Sixuan Fu) by Zhang Heng, it is written: The face appears radiant and leaves behind a light. The commentary notes that di li describes an appearance of brightness. It also refers to a type of stone, as found in the Materia Medica (Bencao).
