Pronounced jing. It is the name of a bird. According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it refers to the jiaojing bird. Lu Dian explains that this bird has long eyes with sharp vision, which is why it is called the jiaojing. It is also known as jiaomu and jiaolu. According to the Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), another pronunciation is qing. The Wide Rhymes (Guangyun) mentions the jinghe bird, which originates from the South Sea region.
In the work Joint Verses of South City (Chengnan Lianju) by Han Yu, there is a line that reads: Floating tracks like the gull and the jing.
