Book of Erya (Erya), Explaining Fish: The ji is the zhu. Commentary: The ji belongs to this category. Its body resembles a sturgeon, with a tail like a fish, a large belly, and a small, pointed, elongated mouth. Its teeth are arranged in rows on both the upper and lower jaws, interlocking with one another. Its blowhole is located on its forehead, and it is capable of producing sound. It has little meat but much fat. It gives birth to live young and is skilled at devouring small fish. Larger specimens reach lengths of over ten feet. This fish is commonly found in the Yangtze River.
