Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen) states: A ghost garment. Another meaning is a child ghost.
Han Shi Waizhuan (Han Shi Waizhuan) states: Zheng Jiaofu encountered two women wearing garments called qi.
Zhang Heng, Eastern Capital Rhapsody (Dongjing Fu) states: The eight spirits were shaken and terrified, let alone the qi and the Bifang bird. The commentary states: Qi, a child ghost.
Jijiu Pian (Jijiu Pian) states: Shoot the qi, avert evil, and eliminate the multitude of ominous forces. The commentary states: Shooting the qi refers to the Heavenly Gangmao. It is carved from gold, jade, or peach wood. Another name for it is kai-gai. It has an inscription on top and a hole drilled through the side, tied with colorful silk to be worn on the arm. It is also used to drive away spirits and demons.
Textual research: In Han Shi Waizhuan, the text regarding Zheng Jiaofu encountering women in qi garments has been corrected from female scholars to two women in accordance with the original text.
