Zi Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Person (rén) Jí; Kangxi Strokes: 3; Page 91, Entry 03 In the Collection of Rhymes (Jíyùn), it is pronounced "jí" using the Qínrù qie method. In the Explaining Text (Shuōwén), the character "jí" means three joined or united. It is composed of Person (rén) and One (yī), resembling the form of three joined things. It is read like "jí". Xu Xuan said this is probably just a pictograph, not composed of Person (rén) and One (yī). In Correction of Errors (Zhèng'é), "jí" is the ancient form of the character "jí". All characters related to meeting or joining are derived from this.
