Pronounced hao. The appearance of great water. Book of Documents (Shujing): Vast and billowing, reaching to the heavens. Also, abundant. Book of Rites (Liji): Using what is in surplus is called hao. Also, to strain wine using water is called hao. Also, a surname. Hao Shang, the Inspector of Qing Province during the Han dynasty. Also, pronounced gao. The name of a river. Also, pronounced ge. Haomen, the name of a Han dynasty county belonging to Jincheng Commandery. History of the Former Han (Qian Hanshu), Geography Treatise: The Haomen River is located outside the western frontier; it flows east to Yunwu and enters the Huang River.
