According to the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it means the crown of the head. According to the Broad Rhyme (Guangyun), it refers to the top of the head. According to the Dialects by Master Yang (Fangyan), it means the summit, the top. As stated in the Book of Changes (Yijing), in the chapter on the Great Excess hexagram, to cross a stream until the water goes over one's head.
