Meaning: The sound of a funeral dirge.

Meaning: An interjection.
Example: "Why, oh why, do you linger?" — Songs of Chu (Chuci), "Summoning the Soul" (Zhaohun)
Annotation: According to Shen Cunzhong's "Notes on Writing" (Bitan), people from Kui, Xia, Hu, and Xiang, when uttering incantations, would end with "sa po he." These three sounds combine to form "xie."
