"Zhengzitong": 郗 (qī) is different from 郄 (xì). Huang Changrui states: 郄诜 (Xì Shēn) is a descendant of Xi Gǔ, a high official of the Jin state. 郗鉴 (Xī Jiàn) is a descendant of Xī Lǜ, an imperial censor during the Han Dynasty. Since the origins of these surnames are different, their pronunciations are also distinct. In later generations, due to the confusion of common script forms, 郄 and 郗 are no longer distinguished as two separate surnames.
