Also, in the Book of Changes (Yijing), in the Appended Statements, the Earth hexagram, when in a state of rest, signifies convergence. The commentary states that convergence means to gather or collect. Also, in the Book of Odes (Shijing), it mentions the Winnowing Basket constellation in the south, which is extending its tongue. The sub-commentary states that here it signifies a stretching motion. Also, in the Er Ya, Explanation of Instruction, it describes people who agree with one another while simultaneously slandering each other, with no one attending to their duties seriously. The commentary notes that in the Book of Odes, this is written with the characters that look like a duplication of this term, though in the current version of the Book of Odes, it is written with a different character. According to the Guang Ya, the reduplicated form describes something that is blazing or flourishing. The Guang Yun also defines it as drying by means of fire. It also denotes an action or a sense of thriving.
