Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): Pronounced xi.
Five Classics Characters (Wujing Wenzi): The character is formed with the radical for white. It has been passed down with the radical for sun, but this is incorrect.
Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun): The personal name of Zeng Dian is written as xi, originally formed with the radical for white. In the Analects (Lunyu), Mencius (Mengzi), and Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), it is mistakenly written with the radical for sun. It cannot be altered now, so it is included here.
Correct Character Mastery (Zhengzitong): Note that the form with the radical for white denotes the color white (xi). The form with the radical for sun denotes clearly distinguishing (xi). The meanings of these two characters are distinct.
