Pronounced pang. According to the Comprehensive Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is defined as wandering or hesitating. According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it means to linger. As stated in the Zhuangzi, Free and Easy Wandering (Xiaoyao You): Wandering without purpose by its side. It is also the name of an insect. In the Zhuangzi, Explanation of Life (Dasheng Pian), it mentions the insect. The Sound and Meaning (Yinyi) notes: The insect is shaped like a snake, has two heads, and is covered in five-colored patterns. Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it refers to wandering to and fro. In the Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), Biography of King Bi of Wu: Wandering throughout the world.
