According to the Sound Compilation (Jiyun), it is pronounced fu. In the Explanation of Script and Elucidation of Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it refers to an outer city wall, sharing the same meaning as the character fu. It is also written in a variant form. According to the Definitions of Names (Shiming), a place where water accumulates on a mountain is called fu. Fu implies a sense of shedding, referring to water flowing down from a high place. It is also pronounced pou, signifying something immense or flourishing. As stated in the Zhuangzi, Autumn Floods (Qiushui): The smallest things have their subtleties, and the greatest things have their manifestations of grandeur. It is also pronounced bo. It is the same as a certain character. Sometimes it is also written in this variant form.
