Wei Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Bamboo (zhú) Lu Kangxi strokes: 19 Page 901, Entry 33 Guangyun (Broad Rhymes) and Jiyun (Combined Rhymes) state this is the ancient form of the character lu. For detailed notes, see the twelve-stroke section. Also, in the Book of Documents (Shangshu), chapter Tribute of Yu (Yugong): It produces jun, lu, and hu bamboo. The commentary explains: Lu is a high-quality type of bamboo. According to the Bamboo Manual (Zhupu): Lu bamboo originates from the Yunmeng Marsh region and is suitable for making arrow shafts. It is similar to the arrow bamboo produced in Kuaiji, but it is distinct for its particularly black and coarse outer skin.
