In the History of the Former Han (Qianhan shu), within the Biography of the Xiongnu (Xiongnu zhuan), the title Prince Guli is also written as Gulili. Upon examining dictionaries such as the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen jiezi), the Collection of Characters (Yupian), and the Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), none contain the entry for this character. The Compilation of Characters (Zihui) and the Correct Character Guide cite older editions of the History of the Former Han (Hanshu) as their evidence, yet they fail to realize that the old editions had suffered wear and damage, causing the initial part of the original character to be lost. This is an erroneous character and is not a standard, correct form.
