The name of a river. According to Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), the river originates from Yao Mountain in Luyang, Nanyang, and flows northeast into the Ru River.
It is sometimes also written in a variant form (zhi).
According to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is also pronounced zhi (falling-rising tone), with a pronunciation the same as zhi. It is also pronounced zhi (falling tone), with a pronunciation the same as zhi. The meaning is the same.
