The peel can be used to make brushes. Found in Jiaozhi. Also, in the Encyclopedia of Antiquities (Piya): A fruit name, similar to a tangerine. In the Plants and Trees of the South (Nanfang Caomu Zhuang): Citron. The flesh of the fruit is very thick and white, like a radish. Needleworkers compete to carve flowers and grasses into it, soaking them in honey. Also known as fragrant citron (xiangyuan). In the Record of Strange Things (Yiwuzhi): The taste is not pleasant; it can be used to wash linen and ramie cloth. In the Garden Manual Miscellany (Xuepu Yushu): The flowers of the fragrant citron are more intensely fragrant than sweetleaf (shanfan). The fruit is large and aromatic.
