Shuowen: The husband's family.
Baihu Tong: A woman depends on her husband to attain her status, therefore it is called yin.
Book of Rites, Meaning of Marriage Commentary (Liji hunyi shu): The husband is called hun, the wife is called yin. The husband comes at the twilight hour, and the woman follows him and leaves. Furthermore, the wife's father is called hun, and the husband's father is called yin. Today, the families of both the husband and wife are referred to as yin.
