From the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu), Duke Zhuang (Zhuāng), year 3: "Ji Ji (Jì Jì) presented Xi (Xi) to Qi (Qí)." Note: This place is in Dong'anping (Dōng'ānpíng) township in the eastern part of the Qi (Qí) state.

From the Spring and Autumn Annals (Chunqiu), Duke Xi (Xī), year 26: "The people of Qi (Qí) invaded our western border. The Duke pursued the Qi (Qí) army to Xi (Xi)." Note: Xi (Xi) is a place in Qi (Qí). West of Gucheng (Gǔchéng) County in Jibei (Jìběi) there is a place called Xia (Xià).
According to Zhengzitong (Zhengzitong): During the Battle of Chengpu (Chéngpú), the Chu (Chǔ) army encamped with their backs to Xi (Xi). Note: Xi (Xi) is the name of a hill or dangerous terrain. Another explanation says it is a mountain or place name. It is commonly written in a variant form.
Correction: In Zhengzitong (Zhengzitong), the text originally reads "During the Battle of Chengpu (Chéngpú), the Chu (Chǔ) army encamped with their backs to Xi (Xi) and 合 (hé, joined)". This has been corrected to 舍 (shè, encamped) in accordance with the original text of the Zuozhuan (Zuozhuan).
