According to Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), and Collection of Rhymes (Yunhui), the pronunciation is wei. In Jade Chapters (Yupian), it is the name of an ox. According to Literary Expositor (Erya), in the chapter Explaining Domestic Animals, it is a wei ox. The commentary states: This refers to the qu ox. It is like an ox but large, with several thousand catties of meat. It originates from within Shu. According to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is sometimes written in a variant form. Also, according to Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), pronunciation is wei (falling tone), and according to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and Collection of Rhymes (Yunhui), pronunciation is wei (falling tone), and according to Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), pronunciation is wei (falling tone).
