According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), the pronunciation is shu (falling tone).
According to Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it is the name of a jade.
According to Approach to the Classics (Erya), in the section Explaining Implements (Shiqi), a jade璋 (zhang) of eight inches in size is called shu. The commentary states that a zhang is half of a gui (ritual jade).
Additionally, according to Extensive Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the pronunciation is zhou (entering tone).
