Chou Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Mouth (kǒu) Character: Xù Kangxi Strokes: 9 Page 187, Entry 06 Collected Rhymes (Jiyun): Pronounced lǜ. Jade Chapter (Yupian): To drink. Also in Jade Chapter: Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji) states: The ancestors of Chu had Xiong Xu, who was Fenmao. Regarding the Records of the Grand Historian, House of Chu: Xiong Ju was established. Xu Guang states: Ju is pronounced shùn. The Search for Obscurities (Suoyin) states: Jade Chapter places Xu in the Mouth radical; however, some modern editions have the character written with the Eye radical, hence the reading shùn, which is incorrect. According to this, Xiong Xu should be written with the Mouth radical. Also in Collected Rhymes: Pronounced xún. Same as xún. Refer to the note on the character xún under the Speech radical.
