Jiyun (Jíyùn) states it is pronounced shù by the fanqie method shūyù qiē. Shuowen Jiezi (Shuōwén Jiězì) defines it as "to stand." Also, Guangyun (Guǎngyùn) and Jiyun (Jíyùn) state it is pronounced dōu by the fanqie method dānghóu qiē. Zhānbèi means utterly exhausted. Alternatively, lǚbèi means bent over and hanging down. Sometimes also written in the variant form pronounced yǎ. Also written in the variant form pronounced shù.
