Shuowen Jiezi (Shuōwén Jiězì) defines it as "to stand." Also, Guangyun (Guǎngyùn) and Jiyun (Jíyùn) state it is pronounced dōu by the fanqie method dānghóu qiē. Zhānbèi means utterly exhausted.
