Pronounced qian. The meaning is identical to the character for one thousand. A leader of one thousand people is called a qian. Also seen in the History of Han (Hanshu) in the reference to the acquisition of one thousand and one hundred units.
Notes: Qian refers to one thousand units of currency, while bai refers to one hundred units of currency. It also refers to lush and flourishing vegetation.

Li Shan commentary: Written as qian. Qian is interchangeable with the character qian (luxuriant).
