The Correct Character Guide (Zhengzitong) states that in the Guangdong region it is called cattle of the rice, and in the Shaoxing region it is called elephant of the rice. Additionally, the Long Notes on the Analysis of Characters (Shuowen Changjian) records that the praying mantis has another name, qifu.
