In the Yunhui (Yunhui) and Zheng Yun (Zheng Yun), it is given as bó mí qiè, pronounced like pí. The Guangyun (Guangyun) records that Píshào was a city-state of the Jin kingdom. The Zuo Zhuan (Zuo Zhuan), Duke Xiang, 23rd Year, records that the state of Qi attacked the state of Jin and encamped at Píshào. Also, the Yupian (Yupian) records that Shǔ Commandery contained Pí County. The Biography of Yang Xiong in the Book of Han (Qian Han Shu) states: "Journeying up the river, dwelling south of the mountains, is called Pí."
