According to Boya (Broad Elegant Lexicon), it means sorrowful. According to Yupian (Jade Chapter), the reduplicated form means melancholic or disappointed. In the Poetry of Su Wu (Su Wu Shi), it is written: Melancholic and unable to take leave. It also means to be deeply attached. In the Biography of Fan from the History of the Later Han (Hou Hanshu), it states: Heaven is deeply attached to the Han dynasty without end. Additionally, according to Wuyin Jiyun (Collection of Rhymes by Five Tones), pronounced lang.
