Wu Collection, Lower Volume Radical: Stone (shí) Kangxi Strokes: 12 Page 831, Entry 04 Pronounced liu. A medicinal mineral, sulfur. Zhengzitong says: In the Huainanzi (Huainanzi), it is stated that at the summer solstice, sulfur marshes appear, which is caused by the yang energy entering the earth and encountering yin energy. Imported sulfur resembles honey, having a yellow color with golden-red markings; when broken open, it shines like crystal. The current greenish sulfur is of poor quality. Originally written as liu (flowing), but because it resembles a stone, the Tangyun (Tangyun) adds the stone radical. It is also written as liu. Popularly, it is also written as liu. The character liu is derived from liu.
