According to the Guangyun (Guǎngyùn), Jiyun (Jíyùn), and Yunhui (Yùnhuì), pronounced langding qie, sound is líng. A place name. In the Treatise on Geography from the Book of Han (Hànshū), Changsha Commandery had Ling County, now belonging to Hengzhou Prefecture. In the Treatise on Commanderies and Kingdoms from the Book of Later Han (Hòu Hànshū), Ling belonged to Changsha Commandery. Liu Zhao's commentary, citing the Records of Jingzhou (Jīngzhōu Jì), states: There is Ling Lake, three li in circumference, from which water is taken to make wine, and the wine is exceedingly sweet and delicious.
Correction: It is carefully noted that the Book of Later Han does not contain the three characters "酃地名" (Ling, a place name), nor does it have the phrase "thus it obtained its name." Now, according to the original text, it is changed to: Ling belonged to Changsha Commandery. Liu Zhao's commentary, citing the Records of Jingzhou, states: There is Ling Lake, three li in circumference, from which water is taken to make wine, and the wine is exceedingly sweet and delicious.
