Pronounced lin
Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen) states: Rain lasting for three days or more. Formed by the rain radical and the phonetic element lin.
Yupian (Yupian) defines it as: Rain that does not cease.
Erya (Erya), section on Heaven, states: Prolonged rain is called yin, and yin is called lin.
Book of Documents (Shangshu), chapter on The Charge to Yue (Shuoming), states: Use yourself as a soaking rain. The commentary notes: Lin is used to alleviate drought.
Zuo Tradition (Zuo Zhuan), ninth year of Duke Yin, states: In the spring, the first month of the king, there was a great pouring rain accompanied by thunder; it is recorded as it was the beginning. Generally, any rain lasting three days or more is called lin.
