Bamboo Record (Zhupu) by Dai Kaizhi states: Linyu bamboo has thin and broad leaves; it is the bamboo used by the women of Yue to test their swords. Bamboo Shoot Record (Sunpu) by Zanning states: Lin bamboo grows in the Zhuge Liang shrine on Wolong Mountain in Xiangzhou. It grows to a height of one hundred zhang, with leaves at the tip, and the local people use it as a flagpole. Its shoots are edible and very delicious. Also pronounced lin (third tone). Guangya (a dictionary of the Han dynasty) defines it as a screen.
