Zuo Commentary (Zuozhuan), Third Year of Duke Xuan: A secondary wife of Duke Wen of Zheng was named Yan Ji. She dreamed that a heavenly messenger gave her an orchid and said: I am Bo Shu, your ancestor. Shi Gui said: I have heard that those of the Ji surname are auspicious people and are the primary wives of Houji.
Annotation: Yan Ji is a surname from the State of Nanyan.
