It refers to a body that does not decay after death. Another source suggests it refers to a silkworm turning white. Currently, a silkworm that turns white after death is called a stiff silkworm. According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), it is also pronounced jiang (falling tone). The meaning is the same.
