Guangyun (Dictionary of Rhymes): Pronounced ji. A type of bird. Also known as tangchu.
Erya (Approaching Elegance): The tangchu is the same as the langdu.
Guo commentary: It resembles a crow and is pale in color.
Youyang Zazu (Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang): The feathers of the bird are yellow, and after the first molt, they become a gray-blue known as bian. After the bian stage, the bird undergoes further changes; the horizontal markings become finer, and the chest area gradually turns a slight white. It is also called baitang. Tang refers to the color black, meaning there is black coloration within the markings, and after the first molt, it transitions into the white-colored bian.
Zhengzitong (Correct Character Dictionary): Yang Sheng believes that the luochun becomes the baitang by the mid-autumn festival. Note: The langdu and the tangchu are the alandui. The alandui is a bird found on Mount Li. Emperor Xuanzong of Tang collected the sounds of its call and composed them into a musical piece.
