Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Collected Standard Rhymes (Yunhui): Pronounced ji. The sound is ji.
Shuowen Jiezi: To eat a small amount.
Yu Pian: Ji means to sigh. When King Zhou used ivory chopsticks, Jizi sighed.
Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji): Recorded as sigh.
Huainanzi (Huainanzi): To wail and weep, to sigh in sorrow, and to know that sound can evoke movement.
Guangyun: Mouth is ugly/twisted.
Jiyun: Pronounced qi.
Great Man Rhapsody (Daren Fu) by Sima Xiangru: Chewing on divine mushrooms, eating small amounts of jade-like flowers.
Annotation: Xu Guang says: Pronounced qi, meaning to eat a small amount.
Jiyun: Pronounced ji. The meaning is the same.
